I am delighted to welcome you to Bowland High and hope you find the information on this website both interesting and informative. I am tremendously proud to be Headteacher at Bowland High, where I firmly believe we have a unique balance between support and challenge.

We are a small, traditional secondary school, with a high academic achievement, which is very fortunate to be located in an extremely attractive part of Lancashire. Our success is closely linked to our size as this allows a family atmosphere to pervade all aspects of school life. This clearly assists with primary to secondary transition, building relationships with our pupils, the monitoring of standards, good communication and enabling high quality learning and teaching to take place in a safe and caring environment. Clear and consistent boundaries are essential for pupils as they mature. Bowland places great emphasis on the very highest standards of behaviour, manners and uniform. The courtesy which our pupils demonstrate to each other and adults is exceptional.

My pledge to parents/carers is to enable every child that joins Bowland to reach their true potential, both academically and socially. Our pupils are extremely proud of their school, they readily involve themselves in the myriad of extra curricular activities that are offered and leave the school as well-rounded young adults. Despite our successes and the incredible popularity of the school, we are passionate about constantly seeking to further improve the school and I believe there are exciting times ahead for its development, which include further improvements to the school buildings and learning environments.

The school benefits from an extremely supportive Governing Body and parent/carer involvement in all areas of school life.
